DAY 12 – 13th July 2022
Chipping to Preston – 24.5 miles
Ascent 2,142ft
Stages 26 to 28 (C10 to C12) to finish the Central Loop. Three Loops now completed with just the Southern Loop left!
I took a short cut after coming off Longridge Fell and missed out the section along the Hodder River including Cromwells bridge. This saved around 3 miles. No Tolkein Trail for me today!
There are two shops in Chipping to pick up provisions for the day. Hurst Green has a tea shop. In Ribchester there is sandwich shop which is just 300m further on the main road as the Lancashire Way comes off the main road just after the Ribchester Arms.
I stayed at the Legacy International Hotel in Preston. There are various places to stay and eat in Preston.

Longridge Fell is forested although it has suffered significant damage in recent storms. Across the Ribble valley you can see Pendle Hill, which we crossed a week ago!

The magnificent Stoneyhurst college, which is on the route. We pass by the Chapel and then the front of the college.

The new bridge over the River Ribble at Dinkley. The Ribble will feature a lot in the next part of the walk.
