Stage 43 - Burnley to Higham via Padiham

Description
The stage is 8.5 miles long with 779 ft of ascent. We join the historic weavers triangle on the Leeds Liverpool canal to exit the town. From Padiham we pick up the Burnley Way and then the Pendle Way up to Higham The highlight is the historic Gawthorpe Hall.
Stage 44 - Higham to Barrowford

Description
The stage is 5.25 miles long with 617 ft of ascent and visits Newchurch in Pendle of witches fame, Clarion House with its links to the Independent Labour movement and Roughlee with its fabulous statue of Allice Nutter, who was executed at Lancaster castle in 1614.
Stage 45 - Barrowford to Barnoldswick

Description
The stage is 9 miles long with 1,124ft of ascent. The first part of the stage is along the Leeds Liverpool canal to Foulridge, with its mile long tunnel. From there we climb up to Weets Hill. Although only 397m high it has great views including of the Three Peaks of Yorkshire .
Stage 46 - Barnoldswick to Earby

Description
The stage is just 3.5 miles long with an ascent of 296 ft. This short stage uses the Leeds Liverpool canal to exit Barnoldswick and reaches the highest point on the canal, which then descends down into Yorkshire. Look out for the distinctive drumlin hills deposited in the last Ice Age .

The stage is 7 miles long with 917 ft of ascent. We begin our journey south with Yorkshire never that far away to the East.
Stage 48 - Laneshaw Bridge to Thursden

Description
The stage is 8 miles long with 1713 ft of ascent as the Stage includes a climb to the highest point on the Eastern Loop, Lad Law. It also visits the village of Wycoller, one of the prettiest in Lancashire and the panoptican called the “Atom. One of the best Stages on the Lancashire Way!
Stage 49 - Thursden to Hurstwood

Description
The stage is just 3.5 miles long with 646 ft of ascent as we climb over Extwistle Moor and then down to the pretty Hurstwood Reservoir. Look out for the distinctive landscape created by “hushing”.
Stage 50 - Hurstwood to Cliviger Gorge

Description
The stage is 5 miles long with 727ft of ascent. A good walk with views dominated by reservoirs and wind turbines and then a descent into the Cliviger Gorge, created at the end of the last Ice Age.
Stage 51 - Cliviger Gorge to Whitworth

Description
The stage is 7.5 miles long and has 1,054 ft of ascent. We begin with a steep climb out of the valley into Rossendale and then continue south along the county boundary with first Yorkshire and then Greater Manchester.
Stage 52 - Whitworth to Edenfield

Description
The stage is 9.75 miles long with 1,346ft of ascent. We climb up onto Rooley Moor and then its over to Scout Moor, both giving great views and typical “east lancs” moorland scenery.
Stage 53 - Edenfield to Edgworth

Description
The stage is 8.25 miles long with 1,068 ft of ascent. The highlight of the stage is the Peel Monument with often great views south over the city of Manchester, once in Lancashire of course.
Stage 54 - Edgworth to Entwistle

Description
The stage is 6 miles long with just 929 ft of ascent. The route is a small diversion before we head back north and takes in three beautiful reservoirs, the historical Turton Hall and the trig point of Cheetham Close with great views for such a small hill. A great Stage!
Stage 55 - Entwistle to Haslingden Grane

Description
The stage is 5.5 miles long and 929 ft of ascent. We follow the Broadhead valley up to Hog Lowe Pike, and then descend down to the Calf Hey Reservoir, whose construction resulted in the loss of the hamlet of Grane.
Stage 56 - Haslingden Grane to Rising Bridge

The stage is just 3.5 miles long with 377 ft of ascent with descent views across the valley to Cribden Hill.
Stage 57 - Rising Bridge to Loveclough

The stage is just 3 miles long with 511 ft of ascent as we follow the Rossendale Way and climb over Goodshaw Hill.
Stage 58 - Loveclough to Towneley Hall

The stage is 5.75 miles long with just 578ft of ascent. The highlight is the panoptican known as the Singing Ringing Tree with excellent views both north and west.
Stage 59 - Towneley Hall to Burnley

Description
The final stage is 2.25 miles long with just 214ft of ascent as we complete the Eastern Loop, including a final walk along the Leeds Liverpool canal begining at the end of the Burnley “mile” embankment – one of the seven wonders of the canal network.
