The Beauty of Morecambe Bay
Is Morecambe Bay the best part of the Lancashire Way?
I have been asked a few times as to which part of Lancashire I would rate as the best. On the “Biggest and Best” page I have outlined the very best parts of the Lancashire Way – click here to go straight to this page https://www.lancashireway.com/biggest-and-best/
As for one place above all others, then that really is a difficult choice but a couple of weeks ago I had the good fortune of staying in Morecambe and on reflection I think the best place in my opinion may indeed be Morecambe Bay. Although it was February the weather was quite brilliant with temperatures so high across the country that these were the highest for that time of the year since records began and Lancashire was equally fortunate. So this certainly helped in my decision!
It is also a bit of a cheat of an answer in that the Bay in Lancashire covers a large area with some variety so you could argue that it is more than one place.
For those that do not know the area then look at the Stages 39 -41 of the Lancashire Way, which follow the coast line for almost 13 miles from the Cove at Silverdale, the most northerly point of the coast in Lancashire, to the Stone Jetty in the centre of Morecambe.
Rather than using words to describe the beauty of this area I have attached several photographs below, which I hope does Morecambe Bay justice.
And also please do look at the suggested shorter day and circular walks which can be found at the end of Stage pages. Use these links to go straight to these
